VEL HOMES is a new Canberra custom home builder founded by a qualified civil engineer with over a decade of hands-on construction experience — on a simple promise of honest advice, fixed prices and quality that lasts.
Why We Started VEL HOMES
After ten years in the building industry — and most recently leading operations at an established home builder — our founder set out to do things his own way.
Having overseen projects from the ground up as an Operations Manager at ABM Homes, he saw first-hand what makes a build run smoothly: clear communication, tight quality control, and treating every client’s home as if it were his own. He also saw where the bigger end of the industry can leave clients feeling like just another job number.
So VEL HOMES was created — a genuinely personal, founder-led custom home builder. As a brand-new company we bring something rare: deep, qualified experience without the layers of bureaucracy. When you build with VEL HOMES, you deal directly with the person whose name is on the door.
We design and build quality single and double-storey homes, knock down rebuilds, and house & land packages across the ACT and surrounding NSW — all under fixed-price contracts, with the engineering rigour and honesty we were founded on.

Built strong technical foundations with a BE in Civil Engineering in India.

Moved to Australia and completed a Master of Civil Engineering in Sydney.

A Qualified Engineer Who Builds
Originally from India, our founder holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering and went on to complete a Master of Civil Engineering in Sydney. Over the past ten years he has worked across every area of construction — from design and engineering through to on-site delivery.
Most recently he served as Operations Manager at ABM Homes, where he managed projects end to end. That blend of engineering qualifications, operational leadership and on-the-tools experience is exactly what he now brings to every VEL HOMES client.
